Welcome to this new site on Catholic Senior Life & Elder Care Thoughts. We hope this fills a void in the world and provides a place where Catholic seniors may come to find resources, guidance on the law and references to Catholic teaching. We live in Michigan, but hope this reaches Catholic seniors everywhere as we try to look at issues, resources and teachings that are more universal.
By way of introduction, this site is the creation of Jerry and Jennifer Bartholomew. Jerry is an elder law attorney and advocate for the elderly in Michigan. Jennifer is a homeschooling mother of six who also assists her husband in his law practice.
We are devoted Catholics who hope to provide solid guidance to the aging Catholic population in a way that is completely consistent with the Catholic Faith. Jerry is committed to promoting integrity in his professional field, which is particularly important when the elderly are so often vulnerable to those who wish merely to profit from them. Both of us are students of philosophy and the natural law as well as of Catholic doctrine, and we hope very much to provide information and resources that are helpful to Catholic seniors within Michigan and beyond as they age, plan for long-term care, approach important end-of-life decisions, and contemplate those most important four last things: death, judgment, heaven and hell. And in the meantime, there is a life to be lived with all of its joys and sorrows, and weighty decisions to be made. We hope this blog helps in some small way.
This site is devoted with love to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who cared so tenderly for St. Joseph as he aged, and to St. Anthony of Padua, wonderful patron of the elderly.
Thank you for visiting our site, and we look forward to hearing your comments and feedback. God bless you!
